Personal Statement:
"Better together is so important to me because, too often, athletes feel like they are going through challenges alone. We are taught that being tough means hiding what is going on beneath the surface. Better together allows athletes to lean on one another. It is the support network I wish I had when I lost my best friend in college. We are far more powerful together!"

Personal Statement:
"I began my athletic career as soon as I could skate, with hockey being my first passion. Growing up with parents who were college athletes, I faced early challenges but quickly learned from their experiences. My journey shifted when I attended St. Sebastian’s School in Needham, MA, where I realized that lacrosse was my true calling. After a successful freshman year, I joined 3D New England, where I fell in love with their relaxed and fun approach to club lacrosse.
In the summer before my junior year, I committed to Colorado College, excited to compete in the mountains against top-tier competition. However, shortly after my commitment, I was diagnosed with skin cancer, facing two melanoma diagnoses. Despite the challenges, I’ve continued to push forward. Now heading into my senior year, I’m proud to have surpassed 100 career points and remain focused on competing for a national championship."

While our program finished with its most successful season in history, ranked within the top 5, and I concluded my career as an All-American, I value the lessons I learned throughout my time at the university and the relationships within my team more than our accolades. After closing a 15-year chapter of playing organized sports, I’m not ready to step away from the field and know I have more to give to athletics. I’m eager to combine my education in psychology, personal experience with mental performance, and dedication to mental performance advocacy with my lifelong love for athletics."

I played school and club volleyball and track in high school before beginning my career as a Division 1 javelin thrower at UC Santa Barbara. I competed at Junior Nationals and Junior Olympics for javelin in high school. In college, I made it onto UCSB’s top 5 performers list and finished top 5 in my conference two years in a row. However, what I am most proud of is my contribution to mental health resources in my sports community. I created a sports psychology group, worked on athlete outreach in our counseling center, and gave a TED talk on my struggles with injury and athletic identity. I hope my experiences and motivation to help others become their best selves will allow me to be an effective mentor to young athletes."

I began in youth leagues, where I developed my foundational skills and passion for the game. In high school, I played for Pacific Coast Charter, where I faced significant challenges, including two knee surgeries, but also experienced the camaraderie and support of my teammates and coaches. At Cabrillo College, I continued to grow both on and off the field, learning resilience, teamwork, and the importance of a strong support system. These experiences have profoundly influenced my approach to mental health counseling, particularly in supporting athletes through their own journeys."

After attending a few prospect days in late July and August I ended up falling in love with Wesleyan due to the high academic standard as well as the camaraderie and character of the team. Now, I am in my second year at Wesleyan and I appreciate every moment on and off the field with my teammates."

Personal Statement:
"Throughout my entire life, sports have been at the forefront of shaping who I am as a leader, friend, and person. In high school, I was fortunate enough to play on 3 varsity sports teams, lacrosse, basketball, and field hockey. Being able to be on three separate teams with amazing girls has taught me incredible life lessons about resilience, collaboration, and the importance of good leadership. Now, as a dedicated student-athlete at Princeton, I strive to excel in both the field and the classroom, while keeping the empowerment of other athletes at the forefront."

"I believe that the student-athlete's ability to handle mental adversity sets the good from the great. Having a mentor who has your back as you go through the inevitable ups and downs of athletics is invaluable. It is an honor to be with the Athletes Better Together Program and I am excited to share my experience to guide younger athletes so they can feel supported and empowered, especially by mentors that they can directly connect to."

"Athletics have always been a huge part of my life. Better together means a lot to me because I never want athletes to feel like they can no longer play their sport for off-field reasons. It is a program that allows aspiring athletes to connect with role models to aid them in their careers. I wish I had a program like this when rehabbing from knee surgery in high school. We are better together!"

"I want to be a mentor with Better Together because I know firsthand how valuable support and guidance are in an athlete’s journey. I’ve experienced the highs and lows of competing at an elite level and understand the challenges that come with balancing athletics, academics, and personal growth. As a current Division I soccer player going into my 6th year and a current master’s student in counseling psychology, I’m passionate about mental performance and well-being. With my goal of becoming a sports psychologist, I’d love to use my experiences to help young athletes navigate challenges both on and off the field."

Personal Statement:
"I grew up a multi-sport athlete, playing lacrosse, soccer, basketball, and even flag football. With collegiate-athlete parents as my coaches, I quickly learned the impact of sports. In high school, I was a 1,000-point scorer and 6-year varsity basketball player, earning multiple county and conference honors. In lacrosse, I scored over 100 goals, finishing with 181 career points and earning Offensive MVP three years in a row. I committed to Howard University on scholarship and now play Division I lacrosse while studying psychology on a pre-med track.
Mentorship is important to me—I’ve faced challenges like anxiety, impostor syndrome, and transitioning between sports, states, and schools. Strong mentors, including my parents, helped me gain confidence, and I want to do the same for others. ABT is my chance to give back, especially in supporting mental health in sports, a cause that means everything to me."

This platform allows seasoned student-athletes to mentor and guide younger athletes by sharing their life experiences and complimenting our structured Better Together Mental Performance Literacy and Leadership programming.
Mentorship involves a combination of clinician-facilitated topic-specific group sessions and four (4) one-on-one virtual Zoom sessions with a designated Better Together Mentor. The mentor and the mentee will engage around the Better Together course content at their own set agreed-upon times. Mentors will be compensated for all sessions.
